Kamala Harris will be my running mate in 2024, says US President Joe Biden

Washington: US President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday (January 19, 2022) that Vice President Kamala Harris will be his running mate in the presidential election of 2024, marking the completion of his first year in office.

In response to the question of whether he was satisfied with Harris’ work on voting rights and whether she would be his running mate in 2024, the President did not hesitate.

“Yes, and yes,” Biden responded when asked about the question.

“She’s going to be my first and most important running partner. And, second, I did appoint her as the person in charge of voting rights. I believe she is doing an excellent job “He went on to say more.

Kamala Harris is the first woman, the first African-American, and the first Indian-American to be elected Vice President of the United States.

Harris was born in Oakland, California, and raised in Berkeley, California, with his parents, who were born in India and Jamaica and immigrated to the United States as children.

During her inauguration as a United States Senator for California in 2017, Harris made history by becoming the first South Asian-American senator and the second African-American woman in history.

She was a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on the Budget, and the Committee on the Judiciary before joining the House of Representatives.

As a result of her selection by Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden as his running mate in August 2019, Biden and Harris were victorious in the November 2020 elections.
